Description This is the same unit that is described here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_2700 and here  http://www.atarimuseum.com/videogames/consoles/2700/a2700.html Here is the story behind the unit.  I worked at Atari before and after Time Warner sold the company. I worked directly for Leonard Tramiel as a game developer. One day he and I were at one of the Atari warehouses across street from our building (full of left over stuff from the hay days of Atari.) and I saw the 2700 and asked if I could have it. Leonard, the nice guy that he was said yes. I took it home and got it up and running as I recall (this was about 25+ years ago) and then put it in a box.  It has stayed in that box for 25 years and moved with me from home to home.So today I took it out and ran some very basic tests.  To my surprise it still works.  It is a prototype unit without the low profile buttons on the front panel.  The wireless remotes select and reset button are not real buttons.   I guess the engineers must have attached the red buttons you see in the photos since the real buttons weren't available yet (if ever?). 2 of the red buttons need to be replaced. - Local and Joystick.  I think the springs in them have failed.  The good news is it appears those functions work since the default is Local and Joystick.  to explain:  there is a local and remote button.  they select between using the wireless remote and a regular joystick.  when you turn it on it is in local mode and then you press remote to switch over to the wireless remotes.  Same basics apply to the Joystick and Paddle buttons.here is the testing I did.1) plugged 5 cartridges in and they all ran 2) all of the buttons on the front panel except the local and joysitck buttons appear to work and so does their associated LED. 3) wireless remote both turn on and appear to work yet seem a little flakey.   I did not do a lot of testing.  I tried both a joystick based game and paddle based game (breakout).  I tested the left one more then the right.  Again the reset and select buttons on the remotes are fake prototypes. 4) the wireless joystick front panel cover no longer attaches to the main unit -- see picture.what is included:1) Atari 2700 main unit 2) power Supply 3) 2 wireless remotesI have done the best I can at describing the condition as I know them.  It is of course over 25 years old and probably very fragile (but then it survived all of these years).  Will it work when you get it after it is shipped. (I will do my best to pad the heck out of it).  It probably will but I can't guarantee that. With that said it is being sold as is.   the only guarantee I give you is that what I said above is 100% correct and to the best of my knowledge. Happy bidding Payment Info: Winning bidder agrees to prepay by Check, Money Order or Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express (credit cards accepted only through PAYPAL).
